The Warn wireless winch controller is the perfect upgrade for anyone with a Warn winch. It's compatible with any Warn winch that has the 5 wire electrical system. Warn says it has a range of up to 50 feet although, I've found the range to be more like 15-20 feet depending on mounting location. The installation is as easy as mounting the controller and plugging it in.

Warn recommends unplugging the wireless controller when not in use. I generally plug it in before any trail ride and disconnect it before heading home. The controller is simple to operate and has several safety features: It will automatically stop winching anytime the wireless controller gets out of range. It requires holding down both buttons on the controller for 5 seconds before activating. There is a green led light that illuminates anytime the controller is active. The controller also deactivates after a couple minutes of inactivity.

The wireless controller feels durable and Warn says it's weather proof. So far, I've enjoyed the flexibility of winching in-cab or from virtually anywhere outside of the truck. I would never go back to the wired controller after having this! You can check out more information on Warn's website: http://www.warn.com/truck/accessories/wireless_control.shtml

You might check Amazon.com for pricing. They currently have it for $95 w/ free shipping!

I have a Recon winch on my truck, and it came with a wireless remote. Wireless is AWESOME!

Hmm, I think I will need this. I had doubts about safety before, but after seeing it in action it looks like a really good deal.

I was working at Warn when they were getting ready to release that and the biggest problem they had with the other companies versions is that if your remote went out of range while winching the winch would keep going until you got signal back to tell it to stop. They didn't want to release their version until that problem was fixed. Pretty good idea and much safe because you don't have to be right next to the cable while winching.

If you need extra range you could try this little trick. You'd look goofy doing it but hey, can't complain if it works.

Not sure since I don't own a winch but with all the blue tooth and other wireless junk on the trails today for some reason I would prefer a wired winch control to eliminate the chance of interference...probably out in left field on this one though...

It all depends on the operating frequencies that the remote and it's receiver are working on. There are certain assigned frequencies for things like bluetooth and cell phones and wireless stuff so as long as they make sure to avoid getting close to those frequencies they should be relatively interference free.

I haven't had trouble with mine so far... I'm sure they did extensive testing to ensure it was well out of frequency range of wireless devices. Consider garage door openers... They don't randomly open when you answer your cell phone or talk on the CB. These remotes are each individually programmed and coded to the receiver so even other WARN wireless remotes can't operate the same winch. After having the wireless remote... I'd never go back to a cord. FREEDOM!

Pete, how does this get wired up? I'm thinking more about it, but I'd like to know what I'm getting into. I have a really tricky mount for my solenoid box.

It just plugs into your solenoid box. That's it. Can't get much more simple. :)

Ah, this is the picture I was looking for. I didn't know if it bolted on (like the leads that go to the winch) or if it plugged in to the wired remote port.

(FJC pic unintentional, hehe)

This makes it super easy for me. I was worried because my solenoid box doesn't have much more room for more wires, I really worked to get mine mounted nice.

Going to have to put some money away for this!

Amazon has the best price by far plus free shipping (last I checked). You'll love it. :)

I can actually get it local for $130, tax takes it to $141. I didn't check Amazon's shipping, but this isn't too bad and keeps the local business going.

That is a good price. It's always good to support local biz too. It looks like Amazon price went up. It was around $95 w/ free ship several months ago.
